WILL UNBORN SEE A DAY?

"I don't have any food, and I am sick with pain all over my body," said Kanjo Mai, a seven month pregnant who lost everything in floods.

Much have have been talked about Pakistan's devastating floods and the rescue work which is believed to be in full swing but many are doubting the appropriate funtioning of the work. Several women are left devastated after the deadly floods in Pakistan. These women have a different story to tell. These effected women have lost their shelter, they dont have medicine, they lack treatment assistance and above all they are pregnant .

Dr. Saima Ismail is a gynecologist working with survivors in Sindh. She says there is an urgent need for female doctors. "The number of patients has increased by 60 to 80 percent. People come 24 hours a day. Most are coming with miscarriages, and some are going into labor early. Both the maternal and prenatal mortality rates have increased," she said.

This is a great concern for the country. Many female health workers have assembled in relief camps to help the victims. As they are not the doctors they can only collect facts about the effected pregnant women.Only food relief is being supplied still doctors have not reached the effected areas. There are also report about men harassing female health workers in camp. There is a great gender divide in this country.

Women are being ignored in such cases. There has to be a solution for such problems.Their voice is not being heard.Even the female health workers are helpless as they are not able to get female doctors in the effected area. The question here lies is why this whole society is divided in such a way. There has tobe a medium which can be broken..Most of the pregnant women if not given medicine at this time will die in course. They are already shaken and is under a thrusting depression.

Women in Pakistan are suppressed by the male dominant society. Most of them are victims of social and economic desecration. They were already suffering, these floods had just added sorrow to their pain.A woman's right to liberty is restricted in the name of modesty, protection and prevention of immoral activities. There is a broader spectrum of  women exploitation in a country like Pakistan.Women are unheard and always ignored.Atleast for god sake, now Pakistan should take a stand, should take effective care of women and children.Atleast now they should realize the importance of humanity and should stop treating women like slaves.Even Benazir Bhutto was assasinated but if she would have been alive things would have been different which could hahave prosper Pakistan in a better sense.

Still in the 21st century, in many areas in Pakistan, women are not allowed to go to school. In many areas of Baluchistan, Sindh, North West Frontier Province, southern Punjab, it is impossible to see a woman in the markets or on the streets.

According to SocialistAlternative.org For them, domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, gang rape, injustice, forced marriages, honour killings and brutality are the realities of every day life. Discrimination against them is very visible in every field of life. 73% of women in the countryside labour in the rural economy, but no official report ever mentions their contribution.

The government should immediately sent female doctors to such camps where these women have been assembled. There is great fear that an outbreak of human disease or waterborne disease will knock the door of Pakistan anytime.Parademics should be given the uttermost priority. There should be  no hindrance from the local men to these Female Health Workers who have come out to help these pregnant women. If these women are not saved it wont be wrong to say "The Unborn Won't See the Sunlight."......

STRUGGLE OF THE WOMEN

"A women should be respected and appreciated in all means as they are the creaters of universe and they are the ones who balance the society in a non barbaric manner'-Nikhil

  3. Firstly I would like to thank rushda and shristi for sharing their views i agree with rushda that the asian women plight has been ignored to a very broader spectrum...Nd shristi indeed medical facilities should be sent as soon as possible and i believe education should be imparted thoroughly through out the country that will bridge the social gap

    this is their right

  4. I agree with you on gender bias being a major concern in Pakistan. But I believe its is because of the political instability in the country. They have a pseudo concept of democracy which also affects the society adversely, as the citizen's opinion is not heard. As Karl Marx rightly puts is ' society forms the government'.
